Play Epic & GOG Games on Linux Free — Heroic
Play Epic Games, GOG and Amazon titles from one free launcher — on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Epic Games, GOG, and Amazon Prime Gaming each ship their own launcher, each demanding its own background process, account sync, and system tray icon. Heroic consolidates all three into a single open-source launcher that works on Windows, macOS, and Linux — including full support for playing Windows games on Linux via Wine and Proton.
For Linux users in particular, Heroic solves a critical problem: the official Epic Games Launcher doesn't run on Linux at all. Heroic uses the Legendary CLI under the hood to authenticate with Epic's API, giving you access to your full library — free games included — without ever opening a browser or running Windows software. GOG games work through GOG's own DRM-free system, and Amazon Prime Gaming titles connect through the Nile downloader.
Day-to-day the experience matches or exceeds the official launchers. Cloud saves sync automatically, controller support works out of the box, and you can configure per-game Wine/Proton versions for compatibility troubleshooting. The settings panel exposes download directories, install locations, and graphics presets without burying them in account menus.
Heroic also supports offline mode — useful when you want to play without an internet connection — and lets you import already-installed games without re-downloading them. Achievement tracking, game info panels, and a dark-mode interface round out the feature set.
